Fierce fighting for Staromaiorske ongoing, advantage on our side – Ukraine's Defence Forces

Heavy fighting for the village of Staromaiorske in Donetsk Oblast is ongoing, with the advantage on the side of Ukrainian defenders.

Quote: "The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been conducting offensive operations on the Melitopol and Berdiansk fronts, consolidating their positions, conducting aerial reconnaissance, mine clearance and counter-battery efforts.

The area of increased attention is the fierce fighting for the settlement of Staromaiorske, south of [the settlements of] Makarivka, along the Mokri Yaly River. The advantage here is on our side."

Details: Shershen specified that Ukrainian soldiers have not lost any positions in defence. He emphasised that the Ukrainian forces are successfully holding back the Russian offensive in the areas of Marinka and Krasnohorivka.

Quote: "15 heavy assaults were reported in the area of Marinka alone over the past 24 hours. The Russian troops use their operations to stop the Ukrainian offensive and pull back reserve forces to the areas of Avdiivka and Marinka, thus weakening our offensive force."

Background: On 16 July, the Ukrainian General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had retaken part of the village of Staromaiorske.
