The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has added one of the world's largest port operators, DP World (Dubai Port World), to the list of international sponsors of war.

Details: The agency explained that the reason for this decision is that the UAE-based company is not only continuing to do business with Russia but is also strengthening its cooperation with the aggressor. In particular, last month, DP World signed an agreement with the Russian state corporation Rosatom on the development of the Northern Sea Route.

It is Rosatom that controls the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

DP World specialises in cargo logistics, port terminals, maritime services and free trade zones. DP World handles 70 million containers brought in by about 70,000 vessels annually and operates in more than 69 countries on all continents.

Following the signing of the agreement with Rosatom, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the development of the Northern Sea Route is a strategic project that will bring an additional 20 trillion roubles (about US$224 billion) to the Russian budget. This directly confirms the benefit to the terrorist state of cooperation with DP World.

"These additional funds will be used by Russia, among other things, to finance the war against Ukraine," the NACP emphasises.

According to the information stated, the length of the Northern Sea Route will be more than 5,600 kilometres, from Murmansk to Vladivostok, along sea coasts and the Arctic and Pacific Oceans.

The strategic cooperation of the companies will facilitate the transit of goods to Russia, bypassing sanctions, given that Rosatom provides services to the Russian military-industrial complex on a systematic basis, importing banned components for Russian tanks and aircraft. Other illegal cargo and weapons may also be transported via the Northern Sea Route.

In addition, DP World is also active in Ukraine: in 2020, the company acquired 51% of the TIS container terminal in Pivdennyi Port, which gives it sufficient information about the state of the shipping industry in Ukraine due to Russian aggression. DP World also transships Ukrainian grain, including as part of the grain corridor.

Background: The National Agency on Corruption Prevention has added Unilever Corporation, which is widely represented in Ukraine by the popular brands Domestos, Axe, Rexona, Dove, etc. to the list of international sponsors of the war.
