Details: The Russian hackers’ attack was announced by Ivaylo Mirchev, a deputy from the Democratic Bulgaria party, on Facebook.
The website of the Bulgarian parliament is now operational again.
The cyberattack was motivated by Bulgaria’s intention to provide a batch of 100 armoured vehicles to Ukraine.
Alexander Yolovski, Bulgaria’s Minister of e-Governance, said that this attack once again raises the issue of cybersecurity for state institutions.
He said about 80 attacks on the websites of state institutions have been documented since the beginning of the year.
At the end of June, Bulgaria approved a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, the details of which were not disclosed.
Back in November 2022, the Bulgarian Parliament supported a resolution on the supply of military and technical assistance to Ukraine. Unofficially, the former pro-European government of Kiril Petkov is said to have provided Kyiv with over a billion dollars’ worth of ammunition and weapons.
