Ukraine's future is in NATO, this is not up for negotiation – White House
Jake Sullivan, US National Security Advisor, has said that Ukraine will become a member of NATO, and this is not negotiable.
Source: Sullivan in an interview with CBS, as reported by European Pravda
Details: The official noted that Ukraine was given guarantees that it would receive the necessary support for as long as needed at the NATO summit in Vilnius.
Quote: "We said at NATO very simply, Ukraine’s future is in NATO. We meant it. That’s not up for negotiation. That’s something that now all 31 allies have committed to."
Details: He noted the progress of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the counteroffensive and added that the Ukrainian military is doing everything to weaken the Russian forces.
At the same time, according to Sullivan, the West is working to increase sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation, weakening its military-industrial base.
Therefore, as Biden's aide emphasised, continuing the war will cost Russia very dearly.
Earlier: At the NATO Summit, allies agreed to remove the requirement for a Membership Action Plan on Ukraine's path to the Alliance. At the same time, the allies made it clear that they would invite Ukraine to join NATO "when conditions are fulfilled".
The decision of the summit does not contain a list of conditions that Ukraine must fulfil. But, according to the European Pravda, they will include political criteria, i.e. those related to reforms.
