Wagnirets currently deployed in Belarus pose no threat to Ukraine – State Border Guard

The Wagner Group mercenaries who have arrived in Belarus currently do not pose any threat to Ukraine, according to Andrii Demchenko, the State Border Guard Service spokesman.

Quote from Demchenko: "There are some groups of mercenaries on the territory of Belarus, but we are not talking about any massive or large-scale deployment of PMC representatives.

We are talking about a few hundred [Wagnerites] ...

This number does not pose any threat to Ukraine to create a strike group. However, of course, Belarus can use them for more serious things.

For example, to destabilise the situation on the border with Ukraine or other countries."

Details: He clarified that the Wagnerites are now at least 100 kilometers away from Ukraine, and their movement is being tracked.

Background: On the morning of 15 July, Belaruski Hajun reported that a large convoy of cars and trucks with the licence plates of the so-called "DPR/LPR" (Donetsk and Luhansk "people's republics") and the Wagner PMC fighters inside arrived in Belarus. 

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine confirms the arrival of some groups of Wagner PMCs in Belarus, and Ukrainian law enforcement will monitor their movements.

On 14 July, the Ministry of Defence of Belarus reported that the Wagner Group had begun training the territorial defence forces as instructors in Belarus.
