Details: According to Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram, this will ensure the endurance and increase the effectiveness of the air defence equipment already transferred to Ukraine.

Earlier, Norway, in cooperation with the United States, had already handed over two fully equipped firing platoons of the NASAMS air defence system to Ukraine.

"Air defence is a high priority for the Ukrainian side. Ukraine needs protection from Russian air and missile attacks. The good operational results of NASAMS mean that air defence in general and NASAMS, in particular, are very desirable for the Ukrainian side," said Gram.

The ministry also stressed that Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) recently signed a contract with Lithuania to modernise and prepare two old NASAMS launchers for transfer to Ukraine.

The transfer was publicly announced in a press release by the Lithuanian authorities on 28 June 2023; it also stated that Norway would provide additional equipment for the launchers.

Norway will also provide Ukraine with another 1,000 Black Hornet drones for reconnaissance, as these devices have already proven themselves.
