Quote from Pistorius: "If individual partners do this (provide long-range missiles – ed.), it is their sovereign decision. We have no intention of changing our position."
Details: He said that he saw no reason to criticise Germany, since his country, along with the US, provides the most aid to Ukraine.
Quote from Pistorius: "Without us, Ukraine's air defence would be completely impossible," Pistorius added.
Background:
- At the end of May, Ukraine requested the German government to provide it with Taurus cruise missiles with a range of up to 500 kilometres, but the position of the German authorities "remains reserved."
- Earlier in Vilnius, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer of missiles that will allow Ukraine to land strikes in the deep rear of Russia.
- Macron did not mention the specific name of the weapon, but most likely it was SCALP air-to-surface missiles – the same ones that are called Storm Shadow in the UK, as it is a Franco-British development.
