Quote: "The Russians are spreading fake news that NATO is allegedly considering the possibility of deployment of the Azov and Kraken battalions for suppressing the protests in France.
For reliability, propagandists are referring to an allegedly official NATO Internet page containing a relevant statement by Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General. Yet this information is not true, and the so-called official account of NATO turned out to be fake."
Details: The CCD stated that in such a way, Russia is trying to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine, specifically the Azov and Kraken formations, and strengthen its propagandist argument that Ukraine is a "puppet of the Alliance", which the latter is using for its own gain.
Russia may intensify its disinformation efforts against the backdrop of the NATO Summit in Vilnius.
Previously: The BBC journalists have noticed that verified Twitter accounts with a blue tick, the owners of which pay for the promotion of their content, are spreading disinformation, specifically about the French police being attacked from US-made rifles that had arrived from Ukraine. The bloggers attach a photo from a shooting competition at the polygon near Moscow to illustrate this fake news.
Background: Azov is a brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, and Kraken is an intelligence and sabotage formation of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
