9-year-old musician from Lviv Oblast raises more than US$67,600 for Armed Forces within one year

A 9-year-old boy has raised more than UAH 2.5 million (roughly US$67,600) for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine while playing at charity concerts.

Yurii Napora has been travelling around Lviv Oblast for a year now, singing patriotic songs on the streets.

The boy and his father have been holding charity concerts in Lviv Oblast for over a year.

During this time, the boy has raised more than 2.5 million hryvnias. The money was used to buy quadcopters, thermal imagers, ammunition, spare parts, etc.

"He is only nine, and he has already done so much. Yurii Napora, the boy who repeatedly showed up in the Ukrainian media, was in the city of Sambir today," the city council said.

Recently, he and his father, who also plays keyboards, performed in Sambir and raised US$703.

"The funds will be used to purchase a thermal imager for Yurii Hodomskyi, a soldier from the 82nd Air Assault Brigade," the city council said.

The musicians choose their set list together, with most of their songs focused on the war.

"One day Yurii heard the story of a guy from the city of Chernihiv who donated a large sum of money to help our army. I can't remember his name now," said Yuriy's father.

Yurii is a member of the Dudaryk, the Lviv State Academic Choir.
