Quote from Zelenskyy: "Of course, I’ve been receiving reports about the rescue operation in Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts throughout the day, [as well as reports] about the state of the Kakhovka reservoir – or what remains of it.
[Ukraine is facing] an enormous amount of challenges. But we are working to overcome them at every level. And the main thing is that now we have a public drive to do this.
Caring for each other, working in unity, protecting people and life itself. These are our values, the values the Ukraine is fighting for. These values are currently seen in action. And I am sure: no matter how difficult it may be, we will overcome the problems caused by this disaster and by all the evil Russia has brought."
Details: Zelenskyy thanked everyone across the whole world who is helping Ukraine or asking how they can help.
"I’m grateful to everyone who is already participating in the rescue operation, who is helping people as best they can. [Everyone who is helping] people, animals, and all living things. I’m also grateful to all those who are urging international organisations, foreign leaders, and other countries to pay attention to what has happened and to call things by their names. Russian terrorists must be held accountable for everything they have done," Zelenskyy stressed.

Background:
- On the morning of 6 June, Ukraine’s Operational Command Pivden (South) reported that Russian occupation forces had blown up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), completely destroying the dam and the power plant's turbine hall, and the plant cannot be repaired. The draining of the Kakhovka Reservoir threatens the safety of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
- The destruction of the Kakhovka HPP has caused an ecological catastrophe. Water from the reservoir has begun to flood towns and villages, and evacuations of local residents from dangerous areas have begun. As a result of the explosion, there are also problems with the drinking water supply in the towns of Kryvyi Rih, Marhanets and Nikopol.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised that the recent disaster at the Kakhovka HPP created by the Russians will not stop Ukraine from liberating its own territory and has not increased the occupiers’ chances of staying on this land.
