Ukraine's initiative to exclude Russia from IRENA, an organisation authorised to promote the sustainable use of renewable energy, was also discussed.

Halushchenko noted that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Ukrainian energy system has lost 75% of wind generation and more than 20% of solar generation due to destruction and occupation.

"With all its actions in Ukraine, the terrorist country not only poses a threat to the nuclear and radiation safety of the world, but is also creating obstacles to the energy transition by all possible means, in particular, by destroying ‘green’ energy generation facilities, one of which was the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant," the minister added.

Therefore, after the commission of such crimes, the Russian Federation’s current membership of such an organisation should be terminated.

The UK supported the initiative to exclude Russia. This position was also met with understanding by representatives of the other states.
