Kakhovka HPP: IAEA announces launch of assistance programme to Ukraine
The IAEA has announced the launch of a program of assistance to Ukraine as a response to the flooding of the Nova Kakhovka dam. In the next few days IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi will head the organisation’s mission in Ukraine.

He also said that during the next few days he will head the IAEA mission in Ukraine, which will include the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Grossi said that he will also present Zelenskyy with a new IAEA plan. He also said that Ukraine can count on the support of the organisation in overcoming the consequences of the Kakhovka disaster.
"Through the use of nuclear techniques, we will determine the effects on potable water, human health, and soil and water management, and assess the integrity of critical infrastructure," added the IAEA Director General.

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), will lead the organisation's next mission at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant after Russia blew up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.
On the morning of 6 June, Operational Command Pivden (South) reported that the Russian occupiers had blown up the Kakhovka HPP. Later, the Oblast Military Administration confirmed this information. Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Oblast Military Administration, said that evacuation fo the local population from dangerous areas had begun.
