Flood zone caused by Kakhovka explosion will increase – Ukrainian hydroelectric power company
The area that has been flooded due to the blowing up of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) is set to increase, and the water will begin to recede in about three days.
Source: Ihor Syrota, CEO of Ukrhydroenergo, in an interview with Ekonomichna Pravda
Quote: "There probably won't be an increase in the height of the flood waters, but the flood zone will expand, and the water will spread further. We can see that the Kakhovka Reservoir is not fully drained; there is still a large volume of water.
It will drain with less pressure, and the extent of the flooding will increase. The water will begin to recede in about four days’ time [interview recorded on 8 June - ed.]."
Details: Syrota emphasised that the Kakhovka power plant is 100% beyond repair, and a new hydroelectric power plant will have to be built.
