Austrian Chancellor on insurrection in Russia: Nuclear weapons must not end up in wrong hands
Karl Nehammer, Chancellor of Austria, has said in relation to the situation in Russia that it is important to prevent nuclear weapons from ending up in the wrong hands.

Details: "Nuclear weapons must not end up in the wrong hands," Nehammer said.
The Austrian Chancellor said that he is in touch with his colleagues from other EU countries and added that Western special services are analysing the situation in Russia round the clock.
Background: On the evening of 23 June, Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin said that 25,000 Wagner mercenaries were on their way to "restore justice" in Russia.
On the morning of 24 June, Prigozhin claimed that his forces had taken control of military facilities in Rostov-on-Don, including the air base, and were heading "to Moscow". Wagner mercenaries have also seized military facilities in the Russian city of Voronezh.
In a special address on 24 June, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is "fighting for survival" and that there are attempts to "organise a rebellion" in the country.
UK Defence Intelligence said that these events are the most serious challenge for Russia as a state in recent times.
A number of European leaders said that they are closely monitoring developments in Russia.
