After the Wagner Group appeared in the city, residents of Rostov-on-Don began to buy up large quantities of bread, cereals, water and other products. Empty shelves can already be seen in shops in some districts of Rostov.
The outlet 1rnd.ru, citing a conversation with staff at one chain store, notes that it is currently impossible to restock food items.
Images of empty shelves were shared with 1rnd by readers. The photos were sent from different districts of Rostov, but the situation is similar. For example, by 12:00, some cereals and bread were no longer available on shelves.
The outlet added that the Rostov authorities have assured people that there are no prerequisites for a food shortage in the city, except for the rush demand, so the people of Rostov just need to pull themselves together.
"Retail chains in Rostov Oblast are functioning normally. According to major retailers, there are enough food stocks; a week's supply has been established," said Alexey Pankratov, director of the Rostov Oblast Consumer Market Department.
