Wagner aims to reach Moscow – UK intelligence

UK Defence Intelligence believes that the manoeuvre by the Wagner PMC is the most serious challenge to the Russian state, and the coming hours will be key in how this crisis develops.

Details: The UK Ministry of Defence has devoted its 24 June report to the conflict between the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the Russian leadership.

The report noted that the mercenaries had crossed the Russian border in at least two places, had taken control of the military headquarters in Rostov, and some of the Wagner mercenaries were moving north through Voronezh Oblast and were "almost certainly aiming to get to Moscow."

The Russian security forces are apparently not resisting the Wagner mercenaries.

Quote: "Over the coming hours, the loyalty of Russia’s security forces, and especially the Russian National Guard, will be key to how the crisis plays out. 

This represents the most significant challenge to the Russian state in recent times."
