Zelenskyy advocates for creation of separate mechanism to protect rights of businesses and investors in courts
Protected investments and guaranteed protection of property rights in courts are fundamental tasks that should be implemented in Ukraine.
Source: This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a video message on Friday after a meeting of the National Security and Defence Council.
Quote: "It's a strong economy, it's a protected investment, it's a guaranteed protection of property rights and it is necessary. If a separate mechanism is needed that will protect business, the rights of investors, then this must be ensured, there are relevant proposals," Zelenskyy said.
He pointed out this problem in the context of the tasks that Ukraine must fulfil before the end of the year in order to fully implement each recommendation of the European Commission to start negotiations on joining the European Union.
According to Zelenskyy, "in each such direction, the NSDC gave the necessary protocol instructions, and all of them are realistic to fulfil."
"Today is exactly one year since Ukraine acquired the status of a candidate for accession to the European Union, and this year the goal is to start membership negotiations. Ukraine will definitely do its part," the president also said.
Earlier: The European Commission believes that Ukraine has fulfilled two of the seven conditions necessary to start membership negotiations, and that progress has been made.
From the point of view of the European Commission, the conditions concerning, in particular, the judiciary have been fully fulfilled. "Good progress" has been made on the reform of the Constitutional Court.
At the same time, the European Commission believes that Ukraine should "focus on amending the procedure for the selection of judges of the Constitutional Court in accordance with the recommendations of the Venice Commission and begin the selection."
The assessment, formulated as "some progress", was given to the process of deoligarchisation, the issue of national minorities, the fight against corruption, where "strengthening and a credible track record is required," the fight against money laundering and the reform of law enforcement agencies, where "it is necessary to strengthen the anti-money laundering system."
