Details: Zelenskyy has briefly drawn the conclusions of the meeting, during which three main issues were on the agenda.

Quote: "The first [issue – ed.] is the safety of people. One-fourth of bomb shelters throughout Ukraine and one-third in Kyiv are unsuitable for use. The decision of the National Security and Defence Council: the guilty must be prosecuted, and all protective structures must be put in proper condition.

The second issue is the courts. We continue to implement the court reform in tight cooperation with the EU. We are increasing accountability for corruption in the legal system. We are separately working on the mechanism for the protection of foreign and internal investments in courts.

The third issue is our future in the EU. We are accelerating our pace of fulfilling European recommendations."

Updated: Later Zelenskyy released a video message following the meeting of the NSDC.

In regards to the dire condition of shelters, he promised, among other things, to make certain changes in personnel.

Quote: "Ministers Klymenko and Kamyshin presented the first summary of the inspection of shelters in the regions of our country. The conclusions are disappointing. Almost all over the country. In Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv, and Dnipro... and Konotop, and Bila Tserkva, and many other cities. The situation is especially cynical and shameful in those cities that have significant financial resources, but, unfortunately, other priorities. Staff decisions are underway."

Details: Regarding the sphere of justice: according to Zelenskyy, there is a proposal to strengthen criminal liability for corruption offences in the field of justice. "And to make it tangible. From 10 to 15 years with confiscation of property... And so that this applies to those who demand money, who take money, who keep this system of corruption at all its links."

Next is, according to the head of state, implementation of mandatory checks on the integrity of judges, and not only before their appointment.

It is reported that members of the NSDC separately discussed the issue of protecting the rights of businesses and investors in the courts.

"Today is exactly one year since Ukraine acquired the status of a candidate for accession to the European Union, and this year the goal is to start membership negotiations. Ukraine will definitely do its part," the president added.
