Ukrainian National Guard and artillery destroy Russian heavy multiple rocket launcher

Ukrainian defenders have destroyed a Russian TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy multiple rocket launcher system (MRLS) operating on the Zaporizhzhia front.

Details: Aerial reconnaissance troops of the Howitzer Artillery Battalion of the 3rd Operational Brigade Spartan reportedly detected Russian TOS-1A Solntsepyok and targeted it with the artillery of the 47th Separate Mechanised Brigade Magura.

The effective actions of the National Guard and the Ukrainian Armed Forces led to the destruction of a heavy MRLS.

Background: The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that as of the morning of 13 June, the Russian occupying forces lost 3,766 artillery systems and 601 multiple rocket launcher systems since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

For reference: The TOS-1A Solntsepyok is a modification of the Soviet heavy multiple launch flamethrower system TOS-1 Buratino.

Russia used such vehicles in the Second Chechen War (7 Aug. 1999 – 16 Apr. 2009).
