US extends sanctions against Belarus for another year

The US has extended sanctions against Belarus for another year.

Quote: "The actions and policies of certain members of the Government of Belarus and other persons, and the Belarusian regime’s harmful activities and long-standing abuses, continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States."

Details: As noted in the statement, Biden has decided to extend the sanctions against Belarus announced earlier for another year.

The restrictions were due to expire on 16 June.

Background: In June 2022, the US Department of Commerce imposed export restrictions on 71 legal entities from Russia and Belarus.
