Zelenskyy requires local authorities to provide population with shelters
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed to local authorities, reminding them that a sufficient number of shelters in their communities is their responsibility.

Amid these events, he urged people not to take the air-raid alarms lightly.

Shelters in cities should be accessible. People need to understand when and how the number and availability of shelters will increase.

Background:
- On the night of 30 May, an air-raid alert was issued in Kyiv and a number of oblasts in Ukraine, air defence forces were in operation. The Russians attacked the country with the Shaheds, the Iranian-made drones.
- As a result of the night attack in Kyiv, one person died, and four more were hospitalised; houses and cars in different parts of the city were damaged due to the falling debris.
- Air defence destroyed 29 of the 31 Shahed drones launched by the Russian forces.
