Details: "As of today, less than 4,000 people remain in Bakhmut, including at least 38 children," she said.
Before the full-scale invasion, the city was home to more than 70,000 people, including 12,000 children. Therefore, 95% of the residents have been evacuated, the official noted.
Iryna Vereshchuk emphasised that it is currently challenging to get to the city due to heavy shelling.
In addition, people who did not leave are hiding in basements, but do not leave any coordinates so that they can be found.
The Ministry of Reintegration notes that there are special evacuation teams and armoured vehicles.
"People are not leaving because of the fighting and the information vacuum. There are difficulties with communication, and people are stressed due to heavy shelling. They do not realise the real threat for civilians," the minister added.
Background:
There were about 200 children left in Bakhmut in early February. The military team is also involved in the evacuation of civilians.
