Details: The volunteers were given pistols, Kalashnikov assault rifles, several large-calibre machine guns, grenade launchers and ATGMs.

In total, the "resistance movement" in Kharkiv, which was supervised by the Defence Intelligence, numbered up to 500 people. But already on 24 February, the number of people willing to defend the city who came to the unofficial public defence headquarters had doubled.

A month later, veterans of Azov and ultras formed the backbone of Kraken, the new special unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. Among them are Kostiantyn Nemichev, the ex-head of the National Corps in Kharkiv, and Serhii Velychko Chili, the author of the chant Putin-Ch*lo, who at the time of the invasion of the Russian Federation was in jail but was granted amnesty by President Zelenskyy.

Kraken special forces participated in the liberation of such settlements as Vilkhivka, Ruska Lozova, Pytomnyk, Balakliia, Kupiansk and so on.
