Details: Kraken's arsenal includes Austrian Glock pistols, Swiss B&T submachine guns, American M4A1 assault rifles, DD MK18, Belgian Scar rifles, and lightweight multi-shot RBG6 hand grenade launchers made in Croatia.
The DIU's Kraken special unit was founded in March 2022 in the city of Kharkiv. Its backbone consisted of Azov Battalion veterans, football fans, and volunteer citizens.
Russian propagandists and representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defence have repeatedly claimed "irrevocable damage" to the regiment during battles and strikes with precision weapons. They spread fakes about Kraken and reported the capture of its well-known fighters, Kostiantyn Nemichev and Serhii Velychko.
The Kraken Regiment participated in many special operations to liberate Kharkiv Oblast.
After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Kraken got a lot of trophies, including armoured personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, and multiple rocket launchers.
A soldier of the regiment known as Rolf told Ukrainska Pravda journalists that in one night battle near Soledar, Donetsk Oblast, he killed 50 mercenaries of the Wagner Group, alone, using a trophy machine gun.
