Quote: "The most intense phase of fighting for Bakhmut is underway. The situation is consistently difficult. The enemy is suffering significant losses in human resources, weapons and military equipment but continues to conduct offensive actions. Our defenders are heroically holding back the enemy's attack in extremely difficult conditions and leaving the enemy no chance to realise its plans."

Details: As he states, the defence of Bakhmut is driven by military necessity and is based on the competent use of the city's defensive capabilities, built fortifications and equipped firing positions.

Syrskyi emphasised that the command is considering all possible scenarios and will act appropriately to the current situation, he said.

He assessed the situation directly in the area where Ukrainian defenders are performing combat missions and took a number of measures to resolve problematic issues that prevent them from effectively performing combat missions.

The commander also made a number of operational decisions aimed at strengthening the capability to deter and defeat the invaders.
