"Glory to Ukraine!": Security Service reveals name of soldier executed in captivity
The Security Service of Ukraine has established that Oleksandr Matsiievskyi, a sniper of the 163rd Battalion of the 119th Territorial Defence Brigade of Chernihiv Oblast, was the Ukrainian soldier executed after saying "Glory to Ukraine!"

Quote: "We have succeeded in confirming the hero’s details after complex investigative actions that included talking to the family and comrades-in-arms of the executed soldier, as well as processing photos and videos.
Besides, the Security Service of Ukraine has received a conclusion of forensic portrait examination that confirmed it was Oleksandr Matsiievskyi in the video."

Details: Vasyl Maliuk has added that the Security Service is working on identifying the occupiers who committed this crime.
Oleksandr Matsiievskyi was called up for service in March 2022. He was considered a missing soldier since the end of December, disappearing near the settlement of Krasna Hora in Donetsk Oblast.
The Security Service has managed to establish that Matsiievskyi was executed on 30 March 2022. His body was returned home in February 2023.
Background:
- On 6 March, a horrific video of the execution of a Ukrainian soldier whom the Russian occupiers had captured was posted online. In the last moments of his life, the Ukrainian PoW said "Glory to Ukraine!".
- The Security Service of Ukraine has opened a criminal proceeding regarding the video in which Russian invaders shot the Ukrainian soldier.
- A few suggestions about the name of the dead soldier appeared online. The 30th Mechanised Brigade believed it was their soldier Tymofii Shadura in the video.
- The 119th Territorial Defence Brigade of Chernihiv Oblast believed that the captured Ukrainian soldier whom Russian invaders shot after he had said "Glory to Ukraine!" was Oleksandr Matsiievskyi, a soldier of this brigade.
