On Thursday 9 March, former NATO general Petr Pavel took the presidential oath in the Vladislavský Hall of the Prague Castle [the residence of the head of state – ed.] and thus officially became the president of the country for the next five years.
Petr Pavel replaced Miloš Zeman in the position, who was in office for two terms – ten years in total.
