Russian shelling of Ukraine's northeastern border heard in Sumy
Explosions that residents of Sumy reported hearing between 21:00 and 22:00 on Wednesday, 1 March, were the echoes of Russian heavy artillery pounding areas near the Ukrainian border.

Quote: "Explosions that the residents of the administrative centre of the Oblast [i.e., the city of Sumy - ed.] heard an hour ago [around 21:20 Kyiv time - ed.] were the echoes of heavy artillery attacks on areas near the border. They pose no threat to Sumy residents.
Russian forces regularly shell areas near the border in recent days. Sumy residents can hear the sound of shelling at night in certain weather conditions."
Details: The Oblast Military Administration later explained that Russian forces used 152 mm shells to fire on areas in the Sumy district.
Russian shelling damaged a power line. Towns and villages near the border might experience power outages.
Early reports suggest there were no casualties.
