Ukrainian defenders use weather forecasts from hydrometeorological units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine while planning, preparing and conducting combat actions – just the way it was during the Kharkiv and Kherson counteroffensive operations.

Source: Press service of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, citing Brigade General Dmytro Hereha, Commander of the Support Forces Command

Quote from Hereha: "During the liberation of temporarily occupied territories in Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts, weather conditions were taken into consideration and helped [us] conduct a counteroffensive.

Due to submitted hydrological information, our warriors were able to arrange reliable bridge crossings over the Oskil, Siverskyi Donets and Inhulets rivers and ensure fast advancing."

Details: Hereha has explained that, for instance, very short-term forecasts are prepared for operations with aircraft and UAVs, bringing vessels into the sea, landing troops, artillery attacks, missile launches, forcing crossings, etc.

Moreover, information about weather conditions is necessary not only for preparing a counteroffensive, but also for planning actions of combat medics in case Russian forces use chemical weapons.
