"Right now we are implementing the recovery and maintenance plan for the Leopard 2 tanks and, according to the plan, we are in a position to be able to send three of them in March," Costa told the parliament.
At the end of last week Costa reported that Portugal was working with Germany on receiving the parts necessary for the recovery of some Leopard 2 tanks that are currently not in service.
Admiral António Silva Ribeiro, Commander of the Armed Forces of Portugal, had previously stated that Portugal had 37 Leopard 2 tanks, but local media claimed that most of them were not in service.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba had said previously that so far Ukraine is set to receive 120-140 modern Western tanks from a coalition of 12 partner countries.
Portugal will also supply Ukraine with the 14 more M113 armoured personnel carriers, 8 high-power generators, additional 120-mm ammunition and two tonnes of medical and sanitary equipment.
