Zelenskyy meets King Charles
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, has visited Buckingham Palace, where he had an audience with British monarch King Charles III.
This was reported by European Pravda.
This is the first time the British monarch and the Ukrainian president have met. British media noted that photos show the King wearing a classic suit, while Zelenskyy was dressed in a military-style jumper and trousers.
Zelenskyy said that he congratulated King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on his recent accession to the throne and wished peace and prosperity to the British people.
"It is an honor for me to be the first President of Ukraine in the history of Ukrainian-British relations to be honored by the British monarch with an audience. I am grateful to His Majesty for the warm welcome and support of Ukrainian citizens who have found refuge from the war in the UK," Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian president went to the audience with the King immediately after addressing UK lawmakers in the British Parliament.
The media reported that after his visit to London, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will travel to Paris on Wednesday evening, 8 February, where he will meet the French President and the German Chancellor.
It was previously reported that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is to announce an expanded training program for Ukrainian troops, as well as the delivery of long-range weapons to Kyiv.
Earlier, the United Kingdom announced new sanctions against the Kremlin's top officials and organisations that supply military equipment such as drones.
