"We maintain and strengthen this cohesion by first preparing decisions confidentially – and only then reporting them," Scholz said, referring to his cooperation with US President Joe Biden on the decision to supply tanks to Ukraine.
"What harms our unity is public competitions to surpass each other in terms of the principle: battle tanks, submarines, planes – who has more?", he added.
Scholz once again assured Ukraine of the unbreakable solidarity of Germany and the whole Europe.
At the upcoming session of the European Council in Brussels on Thursday and Friday, the EU will confirm the promise made to Ukraine in June 2021, Scholz said in the Bundestag: "Ukraine is part of Europe, its future is in the European Union, and this promise is being fulfilled."
Scholz plans to address the Bundestag on the occasion of the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
