Group of Ukrainian soldiers goes abroad to train with Leopard 2 tanks
A group of Ukrainian soldiers went abroad to master the management and maintenance of German Leopard 2 tanks, which Ukraine will receive from a number of allies in the future.
Source: European Pravda, referring to Oleksii Reznikov, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, who announced this on his Facebook page after a meeting with his German colleague in Kyiv.
Quote from Reznikov: "Today, together with the Minister of Defence of Germany, we had the honour of assisting your military to prepare for Leopard 2. My colleague really admires the speed of training of Ukrainians who are gaining knowledge," Reznikov noted.
Details: The Minister of Defence did not clarify whether the soldiers were going to Germany for training or would undergo training in another country.
Oleksii Reznikov also noted that 600 Ukrainian sergeants have already started training with the Bundeswehr military; most likely, it is about mastering various Western weapons systems.
Background: On the evening of February 7, it became known that the Minister of Defence of Germany Boris Pistorius was in Kyiv; he brought a symbolic "Leopard 2", a toy tank. After the meeting, Reznikov told the press the details of how Ukraine would receive Leopard 1 tanks from Germany.
Earlier on Tuesday, it became known that Germany's Federal Security Council approved the supply of 178 Leopard 1 tanks from the country's industrial stocks to Ukraine.
