Foreign assets found at plant's designer that produces rocket engines in Russia

Companions of the imprisoned Russian oppositionist Aleksei Navalny found foreign assets of Mkrtich Okroyan, the chief designer of the Soyuz plant that produces engines for Kh-22 cruise missiles.

Details: According to the investigation, Okroyan's 28-year-old daughter Anna owns a manor in Surrey, Great Britain, which was purchased in 2020 for GBP6 million.

Okroyan, his wife, son and daughter indicated the address of this mansion in the documents of their British company Bento Minerals Europe Limited, which sells bentonite clay widely used for construction, water purification, and animal nutrition.

These documents also show that the chief designer of Soyuz and his wife are residents of Great Britain.

The investigation also states that Okroyan's company has a branch in Poland, which is managed by his brother Arutyun. That company also trades raw materials.

In addition, Okroyan's wife Alla Baban and son Andranik are shareholders of a foundry and mechanical plant in Balashikha settlement;  Mkrtich is a member of the board of directors at that plant.

The foundry and mechanical plant in Balashikha is under Western sanctions because it produces metals and parts for the Russian army, but the Soyuz plant is not.

The chief designer of Soyuz and his family were also not sanctioned.

The Soyuz plant, established in 1943, is the developer of the engine for the Kh-22 missiles. Its engines can also be installed in Kh-59 missiles or the Calibre cruise missiles. The plant also develops engines for Russian military transport aircraft.

Navalny's associates believe that Okroyan is one of the instigators of this war. The Soyuz plant, foreign companies of Okroyan and his entire family should be sanctioned, and their English real manor should be seized. It was earned in blood.

Background: In mid-January, one of the Kh-22 missiles hit a residential building in Dnipro, and in summer 2022, such missiles hit a shopping centre in Kremenchuk and a house in Odesa. Dozens of people were killed.

Kh-22 cruise missiles are designed to attack ships, but the Russian army regularly uses them for other purposes, terrorising the population of Ukraine.
