Pentagon says training of Ukrainians with Patriot systems to be completed soon

A senior U.S. defence official told the House Armed Services Committee that the United States and its allies have already trained more than 4,000 Ukrainian military personnel; in particular, training of Ukrainians on MIM-104 Patriot anti-air systems should soon be completed.

European Pravda writes it, citing CNN.

"Collective training continues throughout Europe and dramatically increases the Ukrainian joint armed formations. In total, since January, the US military has trained more than 1,000 Ukrainians, bringing the total number of troops trained by the United States to just over 4,000," said Lieutenant General Douglas Sims II, director of operations of the Joint Chiefs of staff of the United States.

 The US military is also training Ukrainians to operate Patriot missile system in Fort Still, Oklahoma, and Sims announced that the training will end soon. 

"The US Armed Forces will soon complete the training and equipping of the first Ukrainian Patriot battery," Sims told the committee.

This is the first time the Pentagon has specified when the training might end.

"We are confident that the Ukrainians will use Patriot with the same experience that they demonstrate every day with their current air defence capabilities," Sims added.

The German Air Force previously stated that the training of Ukrainian servicemen to work with the Patriot anti-air system in Germany is progressing rapidly.
