Quote: "It is estimated that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces have sent thousands of Ukrainian children to Russia. The abduction of Ukrainian children is a great social problem, a tragedy and a crime.
This is why, together with Poland, we are launching this initiative with the support of the UN agencies. The aim is to join forces to collect evidence so that the abducted children can be found and those responsible for these crimes are brought to justice."
Spinant said more detailed information about the initiative will be provided in a few days.
Background: A new sanctions package includes sanctions against persons involved in abducting Ukrainian children and taking them to Russia.
