Russian military air defence subordinated to General Surovikin
Russia's Air Defence was removed from the subordination of the Ground Forces and re-subordinated to the main command of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Details: "Yes, it's true. It's already an accomplished fact," one of the sources of the media said, answering TASS's question whether the military air defence of the Ground Forces was resubordinated to the Central Committee of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Another source of the news agency also confirmed this information.
It is noted that TASS has no official confirmation of this information.
Quote: "Before this, the unit and air defence units were both parts of the Ground Forces (military air defence), the equipment of which accompanied and covered the troops directly in the combat zones on the ground, and also part of the Air Defence Forces of the Air Force. The latter, in particular, solved the task of air defence of targets, that is, they covered important objects."
Note: Since October 2017, General Sergey Surovikin has been leading the Russian Aerospace Forces.

- The Ministry of Defence of Russia appointed Sergey Surovikin commander of the joint group of troops in Ukraine early in October 2022.

Valery Gerasimov, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, was appointed to this position, while Surovikin became his deputy.
