Zelenskyy posthumously awards title of Hero of Ukraine to pilot Oleksii Kovalenko

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to pilot Oleksii Kovalenko, who was killed in Kharkiv Oblast.

Quote: "For personal courage and heroism shown in the defence of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and selfless service to the Ukrainian people, I hereby decree that the title Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star be awarded to Major Oleksii Oleksandrovych Kovalenko (posthumously)."

Reference: Major Oleksii Kovalenko, a first-class pilot of a Su-24M frontline bomber, was killed on 22 March 2022, as a result of being shot down during a combat mission to conduct an airstrike on a Russian convoy of manpower and equipment near the city of Izium, Kharkiv Oblast.
