Russian occupiers have failed to organise the educational process in the temporarily occupied city of Sievierodonetsk, Luhansk Oblast. Instead, children come to school once a week to get their assignments.

Details: No schools have been operating in the city since the beginning of the school year, and children see their teachers for a few minutes a week.

Quote: "Throughout the school year, children have been coming to school once a week, receiving a paper assignment, completing it at home, and submitting it to the teacher for review," the statement said.

Details: The military administration also says that it is impossible to transfer children to distant learning as there is no Internet connection in the city.

"The invaders did not fix the cable Internet in Sievierodonetsk, and the quality of the mobile one was not enough for studying. Although it hasn't been available in the city for several weeks. And for the last few days, one can't even get through as everything is disconnected due to the fight against the resistance," the Luhansk OMA stated.

Background: Sievierodonetsk is under occupation for the second time. The first time Russian-backed separatists occupied the territory was in April 2014.

After a full-scale invasion started, Russian forces captured the city for the second time in June 2022.

Earlier, it was reported that more than 11,000 school-age children remain in the temporarily occupied city of Mariupol.

The Mariupol City Council also showed how the occupiers "restored" the educational process: lessons are held in the corridors instead of in classrooms.
