The first anniversary of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine was chosen to be the last day of the campaign in order to stimulate donations. The public was reminded about the campaign the whole day within the framework of the informational marathon dedicated to Ukraine. Some companies, specifically Narbutas and Teltonika, agreed to multiply donations by benefactors, made within a certain period of time. During this decisive evening, several millions of euros were raised – as early as in the afternoon there were €10 million on the accounts of the campaign. In the last half hour of the campaign, €505,000 were donated.
Lithuanian top leadership personally joined the marathon. Gitanas Nausėda, President of Lithuania, remarked that, if last year very few people believed in Ukraine’s capacity to resist, then now Russia already looks like a "colossus on clay feet"; but this is still a decisive moment when Ukraine needs total support of the world to win. "This war has changed us – it has changed Ukraine, changed Europe, changed the whole world," Nausėda stated.
Ingrida Šimonytė, Prime Minister of Lithuania, remarked that Lithuania is one of the few countries with such successful massive fundraising campaigns for Ukraine thanks to grass roots initiatives. "What we do is very important. In fact, this is not just a donation to help someone else – we are helping ourselves," she stated.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, and Olena Zelenska, Ukraine’s first lady, made a video address to express their gratitude to the people of Lithuania.
