Italy will organise conference on reconstruction of Ukraine – Italy's Prime Minister
Giorgia Meloni, Italian Prime Minister, said that her country is preparing to host a conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, which is to be held in April 2023.
As European Pravda reports with reference to ANSA, she said this at a press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Tuesday 21 February.
"We spoke a lot about the issue of reconstruction — not only after the end of the war. Now the reconstruction of a destroyed building is a signal of hope, which means that Ukraine is relied on. Italy is working on a conference on reconstruction, which should be held in April," Meloni said.
She expressed confidence that Italy "can play a leading role" in the reconstruction of Ukraine due to its expertise.
During his visit to Kyiv in January, Adolfo Urso, the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, announced the preparation of a conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which was to be held in March 2023.
The previous international donor conference, which aimed to support Ukraine against the background of constant Russian attacks on critical infrastructure, took place in December 2022 in Paris, with the participation of more than 45 countries and 20 international organisations.
According to its results, it was announced that almost one billion euros worth of aid will be allocated to help Ukrainians survive the winter amid the destruction of infrastructure by Russia.
