Source: Serhii Cherevatyi, spokesman for the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the air of the national 24/7 newscast
Quote: "The main direction of the enemy's attack remains the Bakhmut section of the front. There, the enemy landed 167 strikes along the entire section of the front with various types of rocket artillery, there were 41 clashes, during which the enemy lost 212 servicemen killed and 315 wounded.
In the area of Bakhmut itself, there were 48 attacks and 19 clashes; battles were also fought in the area of Torske, Fedorivka, Ivanivske and Chasiv Yar.
Details: According to Cherevatyi, "for many days in a row, the enemy has been setting records for being hit by artillery fire" on the Lyman front and in Luhansk Oblast.
That day there were 424 attacks from different types of artillery and 23 skirmishes. Also, the occupiers lost 69 occupiers killed and 126 wounded. In addition, the Russians lost 5 T-72 tanks, 1 Tigr armoured car, a Tyulpan mortar and two Pion self-propelled guns.
Answering the question of whether the enemy is trying to wear down the Ukrainian troops, Cherevatyi expressed his belief that, on the contrary, the defence forces in Ukraine's east are wearing out the enemy so that he cannot conduct major offensive operations.
Quote: "Now the defenders of eastern Ukraine perform an incredible feat – they are exhausting the enemy, causing losses in manpower and equipment, which is definitely reflected both in the quality of the enemy's conduct of attacks, their moral and psychological state. I think that precisely the defence forces of the east are doing everything to ensure that the enemy is exhausted and unable to carry out major offensive operations.
At a time when, under the command of the Commander-in-Chief, the Chief of the General Staff, reserves are being prepared to deal a decisive blow to the enemy and push him away from our territory – using, of course, the help of our partners from the free world."
