Russians attack energy infrastructure again, hitting some facilities

Russian forces have struck several high-voltage infrastructure facilities in the east, west and south of Ukraine in another large-scale missile attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Details: Moreover, the occupiers carried out an attack on energy infrastructure at night with drones and missiles, aiming them at power plants and transmission system facilities. 

Ukrenergo has stated that they have taken preventive measures, including emergency power outages, to minimise the potential consequences of the attack and preserve the power system.

This is the 14th attack by the Russians on Ukraine’s power system. 

Background:

The DTEK, Ukraine’s major energy producer, has announced emergency power outages in Kyiv and Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts because of a Russian missile attack threat on the morning of 10 February 2023.  

Russian forces launched a large-scale air attack on Zaporizhzhia city on the night of 9-10 February. There were 17 strikes. The invaders particularly attacked energy infrastructure facilities.
