Norway plans to approve a five-year multibillion-worth program to support Ukraine

The Norwegian government plans to present a detailed plan for long-term support for Ukraine to the parliament next Tuesday, 7 February.

The content of the plan became known to the Norwegian outlet Vårt Land from their sources, writes European Pravda.

It is assumed that within five years, through a separate program designed for five years, Ukraine will be allocated "significant funds in the number of billions" of the Norwegian krone. In 2023, the amount will be distributed equally for military and civilian support, including restoration.

The Norwegian government will also allocate a grant to overcome the consequences of full–scale Russian aggression in Ukraine in the countries of the Global South, primarily to overcome high prices of electricity and food.

Oslo has not yet specified the number of funds, because they do not know how much it will be; but the Norwegian government understands that support for Ukraine will be exceptional in terms of size and duration.

According to Vårt Land, the approval of the program is expected to allow Norway to meet the government's target of spending 1% of GDP on aid in 2023.

While the program of support for Ukraine will be presented next week, on Thursday, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre may mention it during a parliamentary discussion about the "war in Ukraine and its consequences."

As it's known, Norway is among several European countries that have promised to supply Western tanks to Ukraine. The media reported that Norway is considering the possibility of deliveries of up to 8 Leopard 2 tanks.
