Russian forces carry out new strike on apartment block in Chasiv Yar
Chasiv Yar (Donetsk Oblast) came under Russian attack once again on the evening of 27 January. Russian forces deployed multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) to shell the city.

Details: Pavlo Kyrylenko reported that Russian forces carried out an attack on a residential quarter. A school, several apartment blocks and several private houses caught on fire.
The head of the Oblast Military Administration said no casualties have been reported so far.
Previously: Two people have been killed and five others injured as a result of a Russian attack on the city of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk Oblast, on the morning of 17 January.
Background: The city of Chasiv Yar is situated on an important elevation; the Ukrainian military believes that capturing Chasiv Yar would allow the Russian forces to encircle Bakhmut.
The Russians ramped up their attacks on Chasiv Yar in early January, having gotten closer to the strategically important road between Bakhmut and Kostiantynivka; the road passes near the city.
