"Tanke schön": European leaders and diplomats comment on Germany's historic decision
Some European leaders and diplomats have commented positively on the fact that the German government had officially confirmed its agreement to provide Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks and rephrased the "danke schön" to "tanke schön".

Details: As you know, the German media got the information on the evening of 24 January, but an official statement from the government was expected on the afternoon of 25 January.
Quote: "Thank you, Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz. The decision to send Leopards to Ukraine is a big step towards stopping Russia. Together we are stronger," Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said.
"France welcomes Germany's decision, which continues and amplifies the support we have provided with the delivery of our AMX10 RCs," the press service of the Élysée Palace commented.
Details: The Lithuanian Foreign Minister responded with a picture of the Ukrainian flag and a modified "Thank you" in German.
Quote: "I welcome the decision of the German government to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and to allow other countries to act similarly," wrote the Latvian Foreign Minister, also adding "Tanke schön".
"The right decision by NATO Allies and friends to send main battle tanks to Ukraine. Alongside Challenger 2s, they will strengthen Ukraine’s defensive firepower. Together, we are accelerating our efforts to ensure Ukraine wins this war and secures a lasting peace," British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said.
Background: Earlier, it was unofficially reported that at the last Ramstein-format meeting, 12 countries agreed to provide Ukraine with about 100 Leopard 2 tanks, on the condition that the German government would agree to re-export them.
