Russians unsuccessfully try to advance on Avdiivka front – General Staff report

The Russians are focusing their efforts on attempts to completely occupy Donetsk Oblast, and have conducted unsuccessful offensive operations on the Avdiivka front.

Details: During the day, the Russian invaders committed 26 air strikes and 15 attacks from multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS).

On the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, no offensive groups were detected. Units of territorial troops are being moved to Belarus. In order to maintain the army in readiness for use, the deadline for checking the combat readiness of the Armed Forces of Belarus has once again been extended. This time until 30 January. The threat of provocative border armed incidents remains.

The Republic of Belarus continues to provide full support to Russian aggression. In addition to joint exercises, Russian units are being trained on the territory of Belarus.

Russians do not stop artillery attacks along the entire contact line. Areas of the settlements of Bachivsk and Volfyne, Sumy Oblast, as well as Veterynarne, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Krasne, Starytsa, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Budarky, Kolodiazne and Novomlynsk in Kharkiv Oblast, were affected by invaders’ mortar and artillery fire.

On the Kupiansk front, the settlements of Synkivka, Kucherivka, Pischane, Krokhmalne, Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, Vyshneve and Pershotravneve in Kharkiv Oblast and Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk Oblast were subjected to attacks from tanks, mortars, barrel and rocket artillery.

On the Lyman front, Russians shelled Novoiehorivka, Makiivka, Ploshchanka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Dibrova and Serebrianskyi Forestry of Luhansk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut front, the positions of Ukrainian troops in the areas of more than 25 settlements were subjected to fire damage. Among them are Verkhnokamianske, Vyimka, Bilohorivka, Blahodatne, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Bila Hora, Dyliivka, Druzhba and Zalizne in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Avdiivka front, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka  in Donetsk Oblast came under invader fire.

On the Novopavlivka front, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk Oblast were shelled.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, areas of more than 25 settlements were affected by artillery fire. In particular, Vremivka and Novopil in Donetsk Oblast and Olhivske, Huliai-Pole, Charivne, Novodanylivka, Kamianske and Plavni in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

On the Kherson front, the invaders again shelled Vesele, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Kozatske, Novoberyslav, Tiahynka, Tokarivka, Sadove, Naddniprianske and the city of Kherson, Kherson Oblast, from the entire range of artillery.

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out 13 strikes on the invader’s  concentration areas and 2 on the positions of its air defence systems during the day. Ukrainian artillery also hit the area of Russian military concentration.
