Background:
- Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki previously hinted that Warsaw may transfer a company of German-made tanks to Ukraine without Berlin's consent if its approval takes too long.
- German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said that western allies have not yet reached an agreement to provide Ukraine with Leopard 2 main battle tanks at the Ramstein format meeting, but he instructed his ministry to prepare for "the day that may come".
- Meanwhile, the German government insisted that the question of the supply of Leopard tanks to Ukraine has never been linked to the supply of Abrams tanks by the United States of America.
