The government commission that investigates the causes of the plane crash in Brovary has time until 18 February to submit a report on the results of its work.

Quote: "A government commission to investigate the causes of the EC 225 LP helicopter crash that occurred on 18 January 2023 in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, has been formed, and the personal composition of this commission has been approved.
The government commission was instructed to submit to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine by 18 February 2023 a report on the results of the investigation into the causes of the plane crash of the EU 225 LP helicopter, and the measures taken."
Details: The government also recommended that the National Bureau of Air Accidents Investigation conduct a technical investigation into the relevant plane crash.
Background:
- On the morning of 18 January a helicopter crashed and a fire broke out near a kindergarten in the city of Brovary, Kyiv Oblast.
- As a result of the disaster, the top leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been killed: the Internal Affairs Minister, Denys Monastyrskyi, his first deputy, Yevhen Yenin and State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Yurii Lubkovych, and three of the Interior Minister's aides and security guards. Information about the total number of dead varied. The data on the number of dead has differed. According to information confirmed as of 15:00, 14 dead had been found at the site of the helicopter crash, including one child.
- Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Deputy Head of the President’s Office, said that the helicopter crash in Brovary occurred during a flight by Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyi to one of Ukraine’s hotspots where fighting is ongoing.
- The Security Service has launched an investigation into the causes of the helicopter crash in Brovary; the main avenues of investigation are violation of flight safety rules, technical malfunction and intentional actions.
