Ukrainian border guards kill Russian reconnaissance group and repel assault near Bakhmut

Soldiers of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service have killed a Russian reconnaissance group, and later repelled the occupiers’ assault near the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast.

Quote from Border Guard Service: "Over the course of the past day, the border guards conducted a series of defensive battles with the invaders on this front.

During the day, the enemy tried to carry out reconnaissance by fire in the direction of the border unit’s stronghold, which is not far from Bakhmut. The fighters eliminated the enemy reconnaissance group: they killed two scouts and wounded three more."

Details: It is reported that with the onset of darkness, the Russians began to storm the defensive positions on a larger scale – the invaders’ infantry went on the offensive from several directions.

The State Border Guard Service noted that Ukraine’s Armed Forces artillery hit the invaders during their advance, significantly reducing their offensive potential.

And then the advance of the occupiers was stopped by the border guards in close combat.

"The positional battle lasted all night, the Ukrainian defenders held the line of defence, the enemy's losses are being established," the service summarised.
